School enrollment begins prior to the upcoming speech and debate season (typically spring and summer).

Student registration begins in August and remains open throughout the duration of the season.

School and student memberships are valid for the entire speech and debate season, which runs the length of the academic school year.

Eligibility

Eligibility

Speech and debate is primarily a high school activity for freshmen through seniors (grades 9-12). However, junior high students (grades 7-8) can participate as well.

Only private Christian schools that agree with the league statement of faith are eligible to become members.

Students are ineligible to compete until both school and student membership registrations have been completed.

Requirements

Requirements

Registration for membership in the LFA requires that each school and participating student submit a complete membership application and pay appropriate membership dues. Additionally, schools must agree with the league statement of faith.

Once school and student membership registrations are complete, the school’s staff and students are eligible to participate in league tournaments, events, and programs.

Furthermore, it is each school’s responsibility to promote speech and debate to their students, find a teacher who will coach the forensics club / class, and handle any tournaments that are hosted at home facilities. (Though the LFA staff is more than happy and ready to help you in each of these endeavors.)

Pricing / Dues

Membership Dues

Membership dues are $500 per school and $60 per student per season.

School membership dues must be paid before students can compete. Students must register prior to entry in tournaments. An invoice will be mailed to your school at the end of the student registration period. Applications received by June 28, 2024 are eligible for a 25% off discount, bringing the school membership dues down to $375.00. Payment must also be submitted by the June 28, 2024 deadline to receive the discount.

Tournament entry fees are separate from membership dues and are priced according to each tournament host.
