Disadvantages

A disadvantage (sometimes called a “disad” or a “DA” for short) is an argument that looks at possible negative effects of the affirmative plan.

If the debate round is viewed as a scale, the disadvantages are intended by the negative team to put weight on the negative side of the scale and, thus, tip the round in the negative’s favor.
