Speech and debate is one of the most powerful activities a high school student could participate in. When a student participates in speech and debate, they gain skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. But they don’t attain these skills by themselves. Every student needs guidance as they develop. Who will do this vital training? Coaches, of course!
Although, coaches and parents need guidance too. Forensics Academy is our way of helping you as you train the next generation of Christian leaders. We cover everything a coach needs to know, from a basic understanding of theory and strategy, to starting your own team, coaching techniques, integrating worldviews into the topic, and dealing with attitude and character issues. These sessions are for both new and aspiring coaches.
No experience? No problem. We’ll walk you through the steps you’ll take to start a team and keep it going. You’ll learn about the format and structure of team policy debate – how to train and how to compete at tournaments. You’ll learn about different types of arguments, effective teaching methods, and strategies too. Essentially, you’ll learn the basics you need to know if you’ve never been a part of this activity before.
All speeches can be improved by implementing simple strategies. In this seminar we will be covering the basics of using presentation to bring power to a speech as well as methods to help your students build better Impromptu Speeches.

In Team Policy Debate, every speech is not the same—at least they are not supposed to be. In a well- ordered debate round, each debater has different and unique responsibilities. This session introduces the concept of “division of labor” and explains the responsibilities of each speaker in a debate round. Division of labor also extends beyond the debate round—it also creates different responsibilities when researching.
